Maya Angelou once said: "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story within you."

So many of us can remember a time in our lives when something happened that we felt we couldn't share. Experiencing a traumatic event as a child can shape who we become – especially when we feel we have nowhere to turn for support. So often, the antidote to trauma starts with something simple: being able to talk about what happened.

That’s what we do at the Minnesota Children's Alliance. In partnership with child advocacy centers across the state, we listen to kids when abuse has been reported. Then, we create a community of care to support them as abuse is investigated and the healing process begins. A whole team of caring people, including advocates, mental health providers, doctors, and public safety professionals, all work together so that each child gets the support they need.

Thousands of kids visit a children's advocacy center every year.
Together, we can help kids heal!

Your Gift, Matched

What's a Children's Advocacy Center?

A children's advocacy center is a child-focused, facility-based program in which representatives from many disciplines, including law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical, and victim advocacy, work together to conduct interviews and make team decisions about the investigation, treatment, management, and prosecution of child abuse cases.
