Join Us in Preserving the Past and Shaping the Future
As we approach our 100th anniversary, the History Center of Olmsted County is preparing for a bold new chapter. To continue serving as a vibrant resource for all, we plan on rejuvenating our campus and creating a connected, welcoming space where history is not only preserved but experienced.
For Phase 1 of our Capital Campaign we have been awarded an $833,000 grant from the Jeffris Foundation if we raise $1,677,000 (1:2 match) by June 30, 2026. We’ve already raised about half of the required amount. Our next goal is to secure the remaining $800,000 by June 30, 2026.
Every gift made through this GiveMN fundraising page will directly support our progress toward this important matching grant.
The Vision: A Campus Reimagined
Your support will power a transformative capital campaign that revitalizes our entire campus. Key initiatives include:
- Restoring the Historic Stoppel Farmstead Buildings — treasured icons on the National Register of Historic Places
- Expanding and modernizing the History Center to host more exhibits, programs, and community events (see pictures below)
- Creating a connected, welcoming campus that supports education, research, and cultural engagement
Why It Matters
A revitalized History Center campus will:
- Increase community engagement and public events
- Grow educational programs for students and lifelong learners
- Enhance tourism and economic impact
- Support researchers, families, visitors, and future generations
- Ensure that Olmsted County’s stories remain alive, accessible, and relevant
