Our story started when I brought a student home when I taught 7th grade that was having a rough home life. He stayed with us for about 4 month and after he left I knew I wanted to start fostering. We have been fostering for 9 years now and multiple children have come in and out of our home. We were fortunate enough to have one child become family and stay. We met Zoey when she was 3 weeks old, we watched her when I did respite for a friend. Fast forward 6 months and we were asked if we wanted to be her forever family. That sweet girl completed our family but we didn't want to stop our journey there.
Each child that has come into our home has changed our lives for the better. Just the other day I was at Target and an employee came up to me and asked me my name. She said told me her name and then I remembered that beautiful smile, she was placed with me for a couple of days. She said thank you for helping her, that she was only with me for a couple days but I had more of an impact on her than I knew. I was blown away. We exchanged phone numbers and are now keeping in touch.
The one thing that I do know is that I wouldn't be able to foster without the support of Foster Together. The people who are apart of FT have become family. This organization has helped cloth my foster kiddos, held events for them, training for myself and the most important they have listened and been a friend. I don't feel alone on this journey. I have my people/support that I can call up at any moment and they help out. The people I have met through Foster Together will always have a special place in my heart. It is mind blowing that I made such an impact on the 1 kiddo I had in my care for a couple days. Then to think if it wasn't for Foster Together I don't think I would be fostering.
Please consider donating to this amazing organization. Even if it 5 dollars it will be used to help these kiddos. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
