Giving Tuesday

CHUM is the largest safety net for those displaced by homelessness in the Duluth, Minnesota area. We have multiple programs to respond to those facing hard times so that they can begin to prosper in life again. For Giving Tuesday, we are raising funds for one of our most important programs, The Steve O'Neil Apartments.

The Steve O'Neil Apartments is our response to families facing homelessness. In 2014, we opened the doors of these apartments to end the cycle of homelessness and poverty in our Duluth neighborhoods. 

We aim to build healthy, strong, and stable families with a broad network of social connections; empowered to reach their goals and dreams. 

We have created a culturally-diverse community that keeps the well-being of children and their families at the very center of community life.

One of our families at the Steve O'Neil Apartments didn't have the brightest start to their stay. Due to their circumstances, their kids were in the care of a foster home. After getting into the apartments, this family was able to turn their lives around.

They have since gotten their kids back, and have chosen to stay at the apartments! Over the last few years, they have become an important part of the community here. 

This has become home for them and that's what we strive for with everyone who stays with us!

To help support families just like this please support us. This program runs at the highest deficit of any other in our organization. That is because it takes great staff and great teamwork to continue to provide this service for guests. In 2022, we are hoping to continue to serve these folks at a greater capacity than ever.
