You can feel that history is alive at the Mill City Museum in Minneapolis. This architectural masterpiece rises eight stories within the limestone ruins of the Washburn A Mill—a National Historic Landmark. Here, history is woven into the community in a breathtaking setting. But it’s only possible with your support.
Please send a gift to the Minnesota Historical Society to keep Mill City Museum thriving into the future. Your gift will be triple-matched through November 17!
Each year, more than 100,000 visitors flock to The Mill City Museum. Your support will grow this truly unique blend of historical education and community programming. Here’s what your gift will make possible:
Flour power
Flour milling companies tested and perfected their flours here. It’s like the original test kitchen. Now, Mill City Museum partners with local bakers and chefs for educational programming in our baking labs. Some previous culinary guests include Sean Sherman (The Sioux Chef), Brian Yazzie (a Diné Chef), and Patrice Johnson (The American Swedish Institute).
Gateway to the city
Mill City Museum isn’t just about the dough. It’s the story of Minneapolis. The museum tells the story with fun hands-on exhibits. Archeology on the grounds unearths stories of the past. And guides bring visitors out into the city on walking tours.
Thriving community hub
The museum’s iconic Ruin Courtyard, created by a 1991 fire in the abandoned mill, provides a dramatic setting for museum programs like family days, walking tours, and performances. It is also a unique venue for local theater and musicians, and special events like weddings. Not to mention Mill City also hosts a myriad of other community events, like our friends at the Mill City Farmers Market!
Mill City Museum is just one of 26 historic sites and museums in the MNHS network. Your support is crucial to keep these treasures alive. And now is the best time to give, because one anonymous MNHS member has generously donated to triple-match your gift! That means your gift of:
- $1,000 becomes $4,000
- $500 becomes $2,000
- $75 becomes $300
- $20 becomes $80
Keep history alive. Donate today!
Your gift will be used for the Mill City Museum or wherever it’s most needed at MNHS.
