If we thought 2020 was a challenging year for Cite Soleil and all of Haiti, 2021 hit an all-time new level.
Here is the update we received on October 24th:
"Haiti has been without activities for more than a week. There is no fuel in the pumps, the businesses are all closed, there is no circulation of cars in the streets, insecurity and kidnappings continue to increase, famine is at an all-time high, the gangs have blocked streets around the capital, the country no longer governs, the costs of necessities increases, and there is no electricity. The situation is really critical and probably too much for the Haitian population - it is a chaotic situation."
Yet ....
Sprint to Cite Soleil still had 115 kids show up to practice - even though we had to switch locations. The staff is protective of the kids and the parents are allowing the kids to come to practice.
As a non-profit, the funding for food and resources has gone up. Water for the kids on the courts has increased as well as the food. A gallon of gas in the black market costs $30 US.
We are still committed and need your support more than ever! Give to the Max is a great day. Please take the opportunity to support Sprint to Cite Soleil and help continue this amazing program for the youth and community of Cite Soleil. Gen Espwa (Have Hope)!
Thank you!
