Honoring Survivors, Remembering Victims, and Creating Awareness About Domestic & Sexual Violence

HopeFest is one of Alexandra House’s signature events—raising both awareness about domestic and sexual violence and critical funds to support our mission. At its core, HopeFest is a time to come together as a community to honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take action to create a future free from violence. In the months leading up to the event, individuals and teams rally to raise funds that directly support the life-saving services provided by Alexandra House.

Domestic and sexual violence impacts millions across the globe—and right here in Minnesota, the statistics are staggering. Nearly one in three women and one in four men in our state will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime. The consequences of this violence extend beyond physical and emotional harm—costing billions annually in lost productivity, healthcare, and legal services.

But there is hope. For nearly five decades, Alexandra House has been a lifeline for survivors and their families—empowering them to heal, rebuild, and thrive. Through a holistic approach that combines education, advocacy, and support, we are changing lives and transforming communities. Our services are open to all—adults, children, and older adults—impacted by domestic, sexual, and relationship violence.

With locations in Andover, Anoka, and Blaine, Alexandra House provides a wide range of free and confidential services, including: emergency shelter, a 24-hour helpline, legal and hospital advocacy, support groups, housing and supportive services, youth programs, elder abuse services, and community and professional education.

Recognizing that survivors often delay leaving an abusive situation out of fear for a beloved pet’s safety, we recently launched Linus’ Pet Haven—a new pet-friendly shelter space at our Blaine campus. This innovative program allows families to seek safety together without the heartbreaking choice of leaving a pet behind, removing yet another barrier to healing and hope.

Together, through events like HopeFest and the support of generous donors, we can continue to stand alongside survivors, break cycles of violence, and build a safer, more compassionate future for all.
