Chicken Run Rescue Sanctuary provides a home for abandoned chickens. Many followers know CRR’s residents by name and know what dark stories brought them to us and what joy they find in a place created just for them. Everything we say and do at CRR is intended to validate the birds as worthy individuals and family members. CRR turns the tables and sets the standard of care to the highest level we can.

Our aim is to give them the happiest, newest, cleanest, safest, healthiest, most spacious and aesthetically beautiful homes and gardens to honor them. Living spaces are well protected from predators, yet respectful of wildlife. The world needs to see them in the best of circumstances instead of the worst- a different light.

The exceptional challenge is caring for Tropical Jungle Fowl in an extreme climate like Minnesota. Climate change has made it even more hostile as heat, dewpoints, rain and cold set new records.

The entry to one of the bird rooms has developed a propensity for flooding in severe weather which, if unchecked by pumping, can migrate well into the interior rooms. In the video shown, the birds demonstrate their skill at avoiding wet feet.

If we could have fixed it ourselves, we would have but this is beyond our skill set. This is the very door Rosa Cabeza runs to in our Instagram Series “Love to Watch Her Go.”

The main access to the outdoors for the birds must be excavated and a drainage system installed before winter. If the work is not done, there is no way to prevent water damage to the home that brought them back to a life worth living.

There is so much unfixable tragedy in the world it’s easy to be disheartened but this is an easy fix and you can help. The smallest donation can help us keep a clean, happy place stay that way for these birds who found their way to it.

Any funds procured over the 6k needed for these repairs will be used exclusively for the day-to-day care of our residents.
