The Senior Services of Ramsey County coordinates Meals on Wheels of Ramsey County, a network providing Meals on Wheels to every inch of Ramsey County and beyond. Thousands of older adults and people living with disabilities are able to live in their own homes and neighborhoods because of the network of 8 community based organizations and school districts working cooperatively to provide Meals on Wheels and other senior services throughout the County.

Through this innovative and successful partnership, Ramsey County residents in need of Meals on Wheels are given the option of hot, nutritious meals delivered daily, or once a week delivery of a wide selection of freshly frozen meals. Meals are made fresh locally in the Twin Cities Meals on Wheels kitchen. We are able to accommodate most special diets including gluten free, dairy free, renal, and vegetarian. Cultural meal options available include Kosher, Halal, Hmong, Mexican, Asian-Inspired, and Latino-Inspired. The meals are tasty and nutritious--96% of meal recipients rated the quality of their meals as good or excellent on our last client survey (2024). While the meals and nutrition value are important, for many the daily personal contact of our volunteers and professional staff provides a vital safety net. Family members tell us they find great comfort in knowing their older adult or family member will get the nutrition they need and a friendly check-in.

By working together, the Consortium provides resources, training, networking, funding, and support to it's member agencies, thus maximizing limited resources, promoting best practices and high standards, and ensuring that all in need have access to services. Each year, the Consortium compiles an important community resource listing for Seniors in Ramsey County. The directory includes non-profit and public agencies that provide services free of charge or on a sliding fee scale. To access, go to:  https://www.mealsonwheels-rc.org/resource-directory

We are so grateful for the community support of the Consortium, which has been active for almost 50 years because of the generosity of others. Most of those served by the Consortium members live on incomes below poverty. Most live alone. It is only through volunteers and financial support from the public are we able to provide meals to our neighbors regardless of their financial limitations.
