Closing the Digital Divide

At PCs for People, we believe access to technology is not a privilege-it’s a lifeline.

Every day, millions of families across the country are forced to navigate school, work, healthcare, and essential services without a reliable computer or internet connection. In a world that assumes connectivity, being offline doesn’t just create inconvenience-it creates isolation, missed opportunities, and generational setbacks.

That’s where we step in.

PCs for People provides low-cost computers, affordable internet, and digital literacy support to income-qualified individuals and families-ensuring that people aren’t left behind simply because they can’t afford to get online.

And the need has never been greater.

Our Impact

Access to technology changes lives, and together, we’re making that possible every day.

In the past year alone, PCs for People has:

  • Recycled over 7.2 million pounds of electronics, reducing e-waste and protecting our environment
  • Distributed more than 30,000 devices to individuals and families in need
  • Connected over 31,000 households to affordable internet
  • Reached thousands of people with many receiving a computer for the very first time

But this impact is part of something even bigger.

Since our founding in 1998, PCs for People has:

  • Distributed over 290,000 computers
  • Impacted more than 1 million lives nationwide
  • Helped bridge the digital divide for individuals, families, and communities across the country

Our progress isn’t just measured in numbers, it’s also measured in lives changed.

Behind every statistic is a student gaining access to education, a job seeker finding opportunity, and a family staying connected. Behind every number is a story:

  • A student able to complete homework for the first time at home
  • A parent applying for jobs instead of relying on public computers
  • A senior accessing telehealth instead of going without care

For many, this isn’t about convenience-it’s about survival, dignity, and a chance to move forward.

E-Recycle for Purpose

Our work doesn’t just change lives-it also protects our planet. Each year, we divert tens of thousands of computers from landfills, refurbishing them for reuse instead of contributing to the growing e-waste crisis. Through partnerships with corporations, government agencies, and community organizations, we securely and responsibly recycle technology-turning what would be waste into opportunity.

But we cannot do this alone.

The digital divide is still wide. Families are still waiting. Students are still struggling to keep up. Entire communities are still disconnected.

Your support makes the difference.
A single donation can put a computer in someone’s hands. It can connect a home. It can open doors that were previously closed.

Help us continue this work. Help us reach the families who are still being left behind.

Together, we can bridge the digital divide - one person, one home, one community at a time.
