Thanks for your interest in supporting MN Media Arts.
Your cultural memories, stored on disintegrating magnetic audio and video tapes, are in crisis and may be lost forever. You need to take action now to archive and preserve the content of your documentaries and audio & video programs before they disappear with media degradation and as legacy playback equipment has becomes more obsolete.
Minnesota Media Arts, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, mission is to preserve, catalog, and provide improved digital access to Minnesota’s media arts programs, documentaries and independent productions. We were originally founded in 1983 as the Twin Cities Cable Arts Consortium to promote and distribute arts programming on Cable TV systems throughout Minnesota. We are continuing to work with Minnesota's creative communities, both individuals and organizations, to better manage and stabilize their video and audio collections that preserve our rich and expressive Minnesota cultural heritage. We do this by offering educational resources, research, media archive
Thanks to your contributions we can expand our services:
1- Building out a “digital archive repository”, supporting catalogs of legacy digital media assets and increasing access via online media channels.
2- Continue providing archival quality preservation and digital conversion services for the art communities through our media preservation labs.
3- Research evolving cataloging standards for digital media preservation.
4- Creating a new “funding strategy” for our 2023 office space, (we were forced to consolidate into smaller remote offices during the Covid-19 Pandemic) fostering engagement opportunities with our target audiences through our preservation media labs, presentations, as well as educational events such as Community Media Archiving Workshops.
