MITY - Minnesota Institute for Talented Youth

MITY’s mission is to inspire and challenge intellectually curious students to pursue their passions within a diverse, inclusive community and empower them by building skills and relationships for lifelong success.  Fifty-five years after its launch as Twin Cities Institute for Talented Youth (TCITY), MITY now provides stimulating academic enrichment programs to advanced learners in grades one through twelve from throughout the Twin Cities and around the world.

MITY provides unique STEM, Humanities, and Fine Arts courses in three exciting programs, each taught by master teachers.  Students dig into new topics, build academic, leadership, and interpersonal skills, and meet like-minded peers in an environment that invites them to be their unique selves.  They are free to learn, create, and perform without the pressure of grades, often collaborating to achieve extraordinary results.

MITY has served over 600 students so far in 2022.  Of those, approximately 44% identify as BIPOC, roughly 50% are female, and 28% received full or partial financial aid.  One hundred percent of 2022 students said that they enjoyed the program and would recommend MITY to a friend.  Similarly, 98% of 2022 parents stated that MITY creates a safe and welcoming environment, and 97% said that their child was academically challenged at MITY.

MITY’s goal each year is to support at least 25% of our student population with full or partial scholarships according to need.  Please consider giving a gift, no matter the size, to help ensure that MITY’s programs are available to all eager learners.  Now more than ever, we need your support to so that all young people recognize their full potential.  100% of donations go toward student scholarships.

Your gift can change a child's life.  As one recent alumnus shared, "MITY saved my life.  It showed me that I belonged someplace, and it gave me the confidence to pursue my passions."  Another wrote, “MITY challenged me to see and accept that others believe and live differently than me.  I had never been with such a diverse group of people, yet the sense of community was incredible.  It definitely changed how I see the world.”

Your support is an investment in the future leaders of Minnesota.

With MITY-gratitude,
