Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, Minnesota . . . living the Gospel courageously with energy, spirit, peace . . . in the midst of a pandemic!

The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, Minnesota, is a community of women religious whose members are called to live the Gospel joyfully and to reverence the earth and all of God’s creation. While fundraising and maintaining our Franciscan presence in the world continues to be a challenge, we are excited for this year’s Give to the Max appeal. We’re happy to report we have $31,500 in matching funds—inspiring us to set our Give to the Max fundraising goal at $63,000. These matching funds double your donation. Thank you!

All funds raised on November 18 support our Franciscan ministries. The sisters are doing their best to stay engaged with their Franciscan community and the world beyond as they follow CDC guidelines and safety precautions. We have sisters serving the homeless population in San Francisco, addressing the needs of immigrants along the border, teaching ESL and preparing adults for their GED exams. Spiritual retreats have been offered virtually with much success and increased participation. The sisters’ work advocating for social justice, rights for people on the margins and care of the earth is ongoing. Prayer, along with living the Franciscan values, is central to the sisters’ daily lives.

Extending the Franciscan values out into the world is central to the sisters’ core mission. We are committed to a life of prayer, simple living, and service to those in need. We are dedicated to promoting human rights, building community wherever we live, and healing the sources of Mother Earth's wounds. We have a variety of intentional ministries and programs that help spread the gospel and share the Franciscan way of life: Franciscan Life Center, Associate Relationship, Office of Peace, Justice and Integrity of Creation

In San Rafael, Mexico, the Franciscan Sisters lead a vibrant mission that provides pastoral care, trains missionaries and assists girls in getting a high school education. Sisters also mentor adults and children in their faith formation and seek intentional ways to be a Franciscan presence in the lives of young people. Donations through GTTM support the missionary work of our sisters.

St. Francis Music Center, a community school serving Little Falls and the surrounding rural areas, provides music lessons and enrichment programs in the performing arts. To keep students engaged, the Music Center developed an online curriculum that offers lessons via Zoom. The staff has worked hard to follow the protocols to keep students and faculty safe during the pandemic. Generous financial aid ensures opportunity for all who wish to participate, whether in person or online. Your Give to the Max donation allows the Franciscan Sisters to offer a rich music and performing arts curriculum—keeping the arts alive in rural central Minnesota!

St. Francis Health and Wellness Center is a full-service health and fitness center offering a heated swimming pool, gymnasium, racquetball court, yoga, weight room, circuit training, cardio-exercise equipment, personal training and massage services. A variety of fitness classes are offered for all ages and abilities. The center’s staff has been challenged by Covid-19  restrictions but continues to serve the community with shorter hours and by limiting the number of people using the facility at one time. The heated swimming pool remains the most popular and valuable asset, especially for senior citizens in our community. Your support helps Health and Wellness remain open for the health benefits of the sisters and the public.
