Corcoran Neighborhood Organization

A nonprofit organization

100% complete

$5,000 Goal

The Corcoran Neighborhood Organization is home to one of the finest (and oldest) farmers markets in Minneapolis! CNO also does some pretty important work in the neighborhood as well.  We have worked in partnership with the southside safety coalition to improve livability and safety with residents. Corcoran has partnered and collaborated with other small community based organization in both North and South Minneapolis assisting in increase diverse public participation through project development and implementation, engaging historically forgotten residents meaningfully and effectively on policies and programs that impact them and in decision-making with a focus on furthering equity.

We have partnered with T.O.U.C.H Outreach to provide Violence Interrupters along the Lake Street corridor and other areas of the city. We also host a series of community gathers with our partners. Corcoran is the little neighborhood that could so we do! We have offered homeownership workshops for people interested in owning homes, work with renters support groups. Partnered with other organization to offer workshops in community around civic engagement in Spanish and hosted culturally relevant and requested events. Lastly, we give flexibility to change plans or add as the community may request with in reason.

Many of you love our Midtown Farmers Market, which our goal is to create a vibrant forum in South Minneapolis that connects community residents and nearby rural food producers in a mutually beneficial economic and cultural exchange.

We envision a community-based food system that assures equitable access to healthy, locally produced food, supports reinvestment in the community, and provides for the long-term viability of our foodshed.

We place value on community, equitable access, local, small scale, cooperation and collaboration.

In 2023 the Midtown Farmers Market:

  • Hosted 35 total markets with over 40,000 market goers
  • Brought over $60,000 into the local food economy
  • Offer literacy and musical selections
  • Experienced several cooking demonstrations
  • Supported over 50 local farmers and growers, artists, prepared food vendors and ready-to-eat food vendors

The Corcoran Neighborhood Organization and Midtown Farmers Market is so overjoyed to be settled in our "forever home" at the plaza on the corner of East Lake St and Hiawatha Ave / Metro Transit Light Rail Hub.

Thank you all for a fantastic year. Please let us know what you’d like to accomplish with us in 2024!
