Boreal Waters Community Foundation - Building Resilient Communities that Flourish in the North.

Boreal Waters Community Foundation, formerly Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, is a permanent community endowment, built by gifts from thousands of individuals and organizations. Guided by a Board of volunteer civic leaders, Boreal Waters makes grants to nonprofit organizations and to individuals for scholarships and provides leadership on important community initiatives across Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin. Since its inception in 1983, Boreal Waters has distributed more than $60 million and currently administrates more than 470 different funds, each with its own charitable purpose.

Community Opportunity Fund
The Community Opportunity Fund was created in 1983 and continues to grow thanks to many generous donors wishing to benefit our community as a whole. Serving as a permanent endowment for our community, funding is focused on three strategic areas of investment:
