In 2020, school programming will be different from the past and the school's budget will be tighter than ever. Donating to school nature programs will enable PEBC to bring high quality nature programs to classrooms across southwest Minnesota.
The benefits to introducing children to nature have been well researched and documented. Benefits of being outdoors include:
Gets kids moving
Builds confidence
Increases creativity and imagination
Reduces stress
PEBC has developed virtual and in-person classroom programs to meet the school's needs this academic year. These programs align with science curriculum standards and aim to ignite the same enthusiasm and curiosity for the natural world that an onsite program in the woods or prairie would. Students will be able to explore the water cycle, gain insight into life in a wolf pack, understand the importance of recycling, or even build a new seed and plant.
Benefits of School Nature Programs include:
Bringing nature and science to students in their own backyard or school yard. Many people think of nature as only being in state and national parks, but nature can be found anywhere.
Supporting schools and teachers in a tight financial situation, but who still want to give their students the excellent environmental education experience they are accustomed to. Without your support, many schools will be unable to afford programs like PEBC for their students.
Studies show that outdoor education increases children's school performance and positive attitude toward school. Nature education increases children's understanding of their place in their community. It is also a fun change of pace for teachers and students.
