Before children understand the word diversity, they understand belonging.

That is the heart of the Milestones Lullaby Project.

Through the Lullaby Project, multicultural representatives visit local child care programs and invite young children on a journey to another part of the world—without ever leaving their classroom.

They hear lullabies from another country. They discover new languages and traditions. They create their own musical instruments. They explore books celebrating diversity. They sing, listen, laugh, ask questions, and learn together.

It may look like music.

But something much bigger is happening.

A child is discovering that people can sound different, look different, speak different languages, and have different traditions—and still share something as universal as a song.

An early educator is receiving new tools to continue conversations about culture, inclusion, curiosity, and belonging.

And a classroom is becoming a place where the wider world feels a little closer.

For children in programs with limited cultural diversity, these experiences can be especially meaningful. The Lullaby Project was intentionally created to provide children with a unique window into cultures different from their own.

And we want more children to experience it.
