At KIPP Minnesota Public Schools, our goal is to empower possibilities among our students and to disrupt student underperformance. Studies have shown in our North Minneapolis community, Black students are entering school two to three grade levels behind. Our school community is committed to disrupting this pattern and providing the academic and wrap-around support our students deserve.
Thrive 45 - Academic Progress Monitoring
Our Thrive 45 is part of our Academic Progress Monitoring. In our Thrive 45 program, our team has identified the five highest need students in each grade (45 students) to provide targeted reading and math intervention sessions. The team constantly tracks and monitors student progress with the goal to progress students to the next assessment band.
2025-26 Academic Highlights from October
- There has been a 10% increase in students reading at or above grade level from last school year to this school year (Fall)
- Students in Grades K-2 who are a part of the Thrive 45 program have seen an 36% improvement in foundational reading skills
- Students in Grades 3-5 who are a part of the Thrive 45 program have seen an 33% improvement in reading comprehension
- There has been a school-wide 14% increase in students scoring at or above grade level in math compared to the previous school year
Wrap-Around Supports
Our school community recognizes that our students need wrap-around support systems in addition to academic interventions. Within our school, we serve the highest need students in our community with over 90% of our families qualifying for Free or Reduce Price Lunch and 10% identifying as homeless or highly mobile.
Our goal is to provide more robust support for our KIPPsters that addresses both academic and non-academic barriers to learning, such as housing insecurity, food insecurity, trauma, and other socio-economic factors.
