16,000 people in St. Louis County just lost their food assistance. These aren't statistics. They're our neighbors, the families we pass at the grocery store, the people in line at the library. Right now, they need us to show up.
The Damiano Center's kitchen is under unprecedented pressure. With Chum's temporary relocation during renovations and these SNAP benefit changes, they're cooking and serving more meals than ever before. And here's where we come in.
Under the Many Rivers Montessori Parent Association, we're organizing a month-long effort to support the Damiano Center throughout November. This is about teaching our kids what showing up actually looks like, about thoughtful giving and sustainable community care.
Here's how your dollar works:
The Damiano Center's wholesale buying power turns every dollar into multiple meals. And I'm personally matching every donation up to $5,000, which means our community has the potential to direct $10,000 toward feeding our neighbors this month.
Your $50 becomes $100. Your $100 becomes $200. Your $20 becomes $40. Every dollar is doubled through my match, then multiplied again through their efficient food systems into hundreds of meals.
I've been volunteering at the Damiano Center since I was a child, and I've returned as an adult to volunteer monthly with other MRM moms. I've witnessed firsthand the dignified way they're feeding our community.
The Damiano Center is a 501(c)(3) organization, making your donation tax-deductible. If you or your company can make a year-end charitable contribution, this is a meaningful place to direct those resources.
Let's show our kids what hope looks like when it has hands and feet.
