The Housing First Minnesota Foundation is the charitable arm of Housing First Minnesota, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Since 1995, we have brought together the talents of local builders, remodelers, suppliers, and volunteers to construct and renovate transitional housing throughout the Twin Cities. Driven by the belief that dignified shelter is the foundation for stability, we deliver safe, quality housing to Minnesotans experiencing homelessness — including veterans, mothers in recovery, youth, and families. Each donation goes directly toward building and renovating homes that transform lives — one project can serve dozens for decades to come. The mission is simple yet profound: Build safe housing. End homelessness.

Why Give Now?

  • Direct Impact: Your support turns donations into real, lasting housing—empowering individuals toward stability and independence.

  • Proven Model: Combining community partnerships with industry expertise, the Foundation delivers cost-effective, well-built housing with a compassionate touch.

  • Urgent Need: With over 9,000 individuals facing homelessness nightly in Minnesota, projects like Avivo Village - St. Cloud, Hope House, and more offer essential shelter and dignity to those in need.

Our Upcoming Projects:

HOPE HOUSE

The Housing First Minnesota Foundation, in partnership with John Kraemer & Sons, Inc. and Hope House/Open Hands Foundation, has officially broken ground on a new two-story youth crisis shelter southwest of the Twin Cities metro. This trauma-informed home will provide teens experiencing homelessness with a safe, supportive place to heal and grow. Featuring welcoming indoor and outdoor spaces, it’s designed to inspire reflection, recovery, and community.

AVIVO VILLAGE - ST. CLOUD

We are expanding into St. Cloud with Avivo Village – St. Cloud, a 48-bed uniquely designed homeless shelter containing eight individual living “pods,” plus shared bathrooms and communal spaces. Serving about 120 people annually, Avivo Village will expand safe, stable housing options for those experiencing homelessness in the St. Cloud and surround areas. With BCI Construction and other Foundation partners, this project marks a major step toward support and stability in the St. Cloud community.
