Give to Deanna's Fundraiser with Avenues for Youth

I started working at Avenues for Youth this past August because I believe every young person deserves more than just a roof over their head and food in their belly. They deserve rest, safety, and a community who believes in them in their journey in life. 

Every night in Minnesota, more than 4,000 youth experience homelessness. At Avenues, we partner with young people during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives—offering not just shelter, but care, stability, and space to imagine a future filled with abundance.

A little of my recent story and why Avenues is so important to me:

When I lost my last job this past June, I was devastated. That loss, layered upon other life challenges, made me question how we would pull through as a family. My community has been our lifeline and our advocates. Our community held me and my family up while we moved through this past summer through grief, fear, and scarcity. 

When I saw the Communications Specialist position open at Avenues for Youth, applying felt like a no-brainer. I felt an immediate sense of alignment with their mission to partner with youth experiencing homelessness to achieve their dreams. Haven't we all faced insurmountable challenges that we overcame because of a supportive community?

I knew my next role needed to offer purpose and connection. The writing was on the classifieds wall, y'all.

Three months later, I’m profoundly grateful to be part of an organization that partners with youth as dignified, beautiful, and deeply important human beings. Joining Avenues feels like closing a circle of care that has held me up, too.
