Lake of the Woods County Historical Society has been collecting, preserving, and sharing history for over 50 years. School groups, families, tourists, and former residents come to take a look at pieces of the county's history. 

The COVID-19 Pandemic, however, has provided us with some challenges. Instead of looking at this with a negative lens, we took this year as an opportunity to get creative with how we share history. We increased our social media presence, got a lot of work done behind the scenes and we are currently in the process of creating grab-and-go Christmas bags filled with activities and treats (store bought) for families to learn about different traditions. While we normally do this in person, we hope this will give families a chance to learn some history from home!

While we were able to re-open for part of our regular season, we saw significantly lower number of visitors and purchases from our gift shop. Your support during the 2020 Give to the Max Day is greatly appreciated! All money raised will go to support the daily operations of Lake of the Woods County Historical Society.
