Build Wealth MN's Raise the Bar for Generational Wealth Scholarship
Established to Help First-Generation and/or Low Income Students Avoid Barriers That Hinder Access to Secondary Education
These barriers include:
- Housing deposits for dorms
- Funds for a laptop
- The purchase of a required uniform for nursing or dental programs
- Tools for automotive programs
Students that have been active in the Youth Stabilization Program are eligible to apply for a cash scholarship to help them with costs associated with secondary education. Whether they plan on a 2-year, 4-year, or technical specialty education, students can apply.
It is common practice for colleges/trade schools to wait up to three (3) weeks into the semester before financial aid funds are released - including funds for textbooks. Most of our scholars do not have accessible funds to buy books so they tend to get behind in class or must read the book in the library for a few hours at a time...if the library even has enough copies!
Scholarship winners are chosen from students who meet the requirements and they must commit to return to the YSP program to speak, mentor, or in some way give back to their community.
