Survivor Rally unites automotive enthusiasts from the Twin Cities for a weekend road trip to benefit charity. For 2020, the charity chosen is near and dear to both Ruth and Phil's hearts. Cornerstone helps domestic violence and sexual abuse victims.

I was a victim of domestic abuse from 2011 to 2013 with my ex boyfriend.

I didn't know where my life was headed and I sure didn't know how I'd get there. I left my parents house, in hopes of love that only lead to pain and for three years, I believed I was nothing. I was young and thought it wasn't all that bad. The abuse got so bad, I didn't know how to leave and I was promised countless times I'd find nothing better, I'd be alone forever. That's what I believed.

My life has changed for the better when I met my now, husband. He helped me through getting through life afterwards AND brought me to Cornerstone, our charity featured in this fundraiser. They sat me down, and told me that none of it was my fault and they acknowledged me. I filed a restraining order and had no questions asked. I don't know where I'd be if Cornerstone didn't offer the help that they do for women, men, children alike.

Abusive relationships are scary, they can change you into someone you didn't even think you could be and can even hurt the ones around you. I still deal with some of the pain and consequences for sticking around including PTSD, anxiety and memory issues. Regardless, I am now happy and enjoy life with many people that care about me and my happiness.

You aren't alone and you are more than what you believe. I'm a domestic abuse survivor and I just wanted to share my story to those who are or were trapped in an unwanted relationship. ❤️
