With the closure of parks, schools, and community centers, The Sanneh Foundation has been forced to suspend many of our traditional youth-focused activities. But in response to the new needs created by the pandemic, the organization has pivoted, serving low-income youth and their families by retaining and repurposing our workforce to provide emergency food and child care services.

Give To The Max donations will increase the capacity and longevity of Sanneh's youth development services during a time that continues to be stressful and uncertain for young people. Your support goes a long way.

Food Relief:

Prior to the pandemic, The Sanneh Foundation served 35,000 warm and healthy meals each year to youth and their families at Conway Community Center in East St. Paul. In response to the pandemic, Sanneh implemented drive-thru food distribution at Conway using a no-touch safety model. We partner with local public agencies and food security organizations to continue providing over 250 families a day with meals and fresh produce.

Childcare:

The Distance Learning Hub, located in the Conway gym, is designed to be a safe space with numerous COVID safeguards, including six-foot-long desks with protective shields. At the Hub, children attend their online classes and do schoolwork with the assistance of tutors. The program allows their parents the flexibility to obtain jobs or continue working. At the Learning Hub, students can achieve academic success without the burden of pandemic stressors.

Education Support:

Dreamline is an academic intervention program that serves under-performing students in St. Paul, Minneapolis, St. Cloud, and Rochester public schools. Since 2011, The Sanneh Foundation has recruited, employed, and trained motivated youth workers (Dreamline Coaches) to work with students identified by school officials as having high social needs and low academic success. The goal of Dreamline is to partner with these students to increase their academic performance, leadership and relationship skills, and sense of belonging in order to support them in becoming positive contributors to their schools and communities.

Workforce Development:

Through our workforce development program, Sanneh reduces employment disparities and levels the playing field for the most vulnerable emerging workers. We incorporate workforce skills development and mentorship opportunities for youth workers ages 16-24 at Conway Community Center and other locations within the community. At present, youth workers are assisting with food distribution, childcare services, and various administrative tasks.
