Some of you may know I used to work in public policy. I was on staff for Congressman Vento for 7 years, way back in the 20th Century.
Some of you may know I also used to do theater - even further back in the 20th century. Like high school and college days.
So, the intersection of art and policy has a soft spot in my heart, and I've always enjoyed watching The Theater of Public Policy (T2P2). They take public policy issues and ideas, and use improv to help build community, understanding, and connection on important topics. Mostly, they've done this at events in the community, as well as their own shows at places like the Bryant Lake Bowl in Minneapolis or livestreamed shows on Facebook and YouTube.
Well, the world has shifted a lot in the age of #StayHomeMN. The advice of experts seems to be working. We're having the public health impact we were hoping for, but the spin-off impacts on arts, public conversation, and the public square have been tough.
I want to live in a Minnesota that has a vibrant, exciting arts scene - and a vibrant exciting public square to talk and learn about the issues impacting us all. We can do both, by supporting T2P2 now for #GiveAtHomeMN. Please, make a contribution, and share your contribution with your friends . We may even earn some fun matching gifts! Check out their page to learn more, but please help me meet my goal in support of T2P2!
