Jenny was just a kitten when she came to Paws Place after being hit by a car. Her mom and littermates were also hit by that vehicle but did not survive. She was lucky that someone from Paws Place happened to stop by and was able to rescue her.

Jenny’s hip was crushed and she needed immediate surgery. We had a choice of amputation or daily physical therapy three times a day to see if she would be able to use that leg. We gave her the benefit of the doubt and chose physical therapy. Our vet performed surgery to remove the ball and neck portions from the rest of the femur, in essence removing the hip joint. She was also spayed, and then sent home with us. We gave her PT for a couple of months, and then started taking her for monthly acupuncture and chiropractic treatments, and that has also helped. She still walks a little wonky because she is missing that bone, but is doing well, all things considered. She is able to jump on the bed, sofa, table, or pretty much any-where she wants to go.

About a year ago, Jenny developed a growth deep in her ear canal. Our vet has told us it is so deep that surgery most likely would not be possible. About six months ago, she became hyperthyroid, common for a cat this age (15 years), and she recently started having issues with her mouth.

We are monitoring her condition, and we know there are more vet bills in her future.
