I first saw Zorongo Flamenco perform "Sor Juana" at the O'Shaughnessy in St. Paul and was absolutely blown away by the power and strength of flamenco and the artistry of Susana di Palma and the other artists. I began to attend all of Zorongo's shows at various venues. Then one day in 2006 I received a mailing promoting their dance classes at the studio. It was like a bolt of lightning from above hit me. I could study this art form??? Well, I signed up for a dance class and haven't looked back. It is a wonderful journey and I love the challenge.
Zorongo has helped nurture and support many local, national and international artists over the years.
A year ago I joined the Zorongo Student Performing Company, directed by dancer and choreographer Colette Illarde. We are a group of dedicated flamenco students who are interested in taking our flamenco out into the community. We have danced at a care center, the Icehouse and also some of us had the opportunity to perform last summer in Mixed Precipitation's production of "Windmills on Lake Street".
I ask for your support for this great organization. Make sure to watch the video link I attached from MnOriginal/TPT about Zorongo, it is very inspiring. Viva Zorongo Flamenco y Olé!
