This Give to the Max Day, Literacy Minnesota invites you to support our TechPak Initiative!

TechPak came together as a CARES-funded project, and we're expanding it to address needs we're seeing at our Open Door Learning Centers as they operate remotely. Specifically, it will bring Chromebooks or other devices, wi-fi hotspots and digital literacy instruction to adult learners enrolled at our six Open Door Learning Centers across the Twin Cities. This work especially needed now, as COVID-19 has transformed the ways we work, attend school and communicate.

It is also part of our effort to help close the digital divide -- the gap that exists between those who have digital literacy skills and access to technology and the internet, and those who do not. Because race, income and education level all predict which category you fall into, it is clear to us that this is a vitally important equity issue.

We are amazed and humbled by the support we've already received for TechPak, which launched earlier this fall. A generous local company pledged a $30,000 lead gift, and more than 50 individual donors have already contributed $5,000 to the fund. Our Give to the Max Day goal is to raise an additional $1,000 or more to support the TechPak Initiative. Join us!

In addition to your support of Literacy Minnesota, we invite you to consider donating to nonprofit causes close to your heart led by individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC). A recent study found disparities in funding between Black-led and white-led nonprofit organizations, with Black-led organizations receiving less funding than their white-led counterparts. You can find a list by visiting givemn.org/search and selecting “BIPOC Led” from the filters.
