Minnesota MATHCOUNTS & the Engineering Alliance Foundation Minnesota are collaborating on two timely STEM projects in 2021.

Minnesota MATHCOUNTS: Minnesota will hold a full MATHCOUNTS season in 2021. It will be a virtual season and gatherings will take place online. Chapter and state volunteers are working hard to make this happen. With your support, Minnesota’s mathletes will earn and receive recognition for their accomplishments. That means everything from recognition kits with t-shirts, pencils and maybe even pizza coupons for mathletes to chances to participate in Chapter, State, and National Competitions. Our volunteers are coordinating virtual outreach for students and coaches, online test proctoring details, and local mathlete recognition that will continue important annual MATHCOUNTS student outreach and mentoring traditions. Your support will make this possible.

STEM Meets the Challenge of the Pandemic: A brand new outreach series! This series of virtual experiences will take place between January and May 2021, and will focus on what STEM organizations are doing to address and moderate the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. We plan to highlight the many ways STEM professionals and their companies are using science and engineering to find innovative and cutting-edge solutions to the new challenges introduced by the pandemic, and bring this directly to our students across the state. Students will learn about how innovation, problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity are used to meet community needs; the wide variety of STEM careers that can play a role in addressing pandemic-scale problems; and the interesting work being done by many Minnesota businesses and organizations and the variety of STEM-related career opportunities that exist in our state.
