Peacemaker Resources is a nonprofit organization that was officially incorporated in 2003. Founder Candy-Roberts Salter recognized the importance of helping children learn the skills of communication, compassion and connection.  We provide programs and services intended to support healthy individuals and communities. These strategies are considered universal prevention efforts for a wide range of societal issues. 

We recognize the central role culture plays in the way we as individuals understand and interact with the world around us.  We know that in order to support respectful communication that promotes authentic connection with others, it is necessary to understand how to acknowledge, include, and respond to a wide variety of cultural perspectives. 

We do work in Cultural Responsiveness that seeks to promote a shared understanding that will increase cultural agility -- from navigating daily conversations in our communities to more in-depth processes that involve a diverse group of individuals and/or organizations.  

We work with youth in a variety of settings -- from our work in classrooms in area schools with our Social Emotional Learning Curriculum "SEL for Everyone"  to our youth leadership program Students Teaching Attitudes of Respect (STAR).   

We work to continue the upstream prevention approach with facilitating professional development workshops and discussions around the importance of NEAR (Neurobiology, Epigenetics, Adverse Childhood Experiences, Resilience) Science that encourages a paradigm shift in recognizing that we need to address the root causes of the contemporary problems we are dealing with as a society today. 

Providing tools and an expanded understanding of how these approaches can be useful in creating the kinds of communities we all want to embrace and cultivate in our world today drives our work.  We remain motivated and encouraged by the belief that we can all find a way to work toward thriving communities together!
