On September 12, nearly 300 neighbors filled Hampden Park for the Ice Cream Social. Nine days later, volunteers were out at Kasota Ponds cutting back buckthorn, and Avalon School students joined them a week later. On September 29, more than 75 of us, in person and online, weighed in on where METRO H Line stations should go in our neighborhood.
That's one month in St. Anthony Park. That's your district council at work, in our 50th year.
The St. Anthony Park Community Council (District 12) brings neighbors in North and South St. Anthony Park together all year long. Our ongoing work includes community meals at Seal Hi-Rise and the Legends at Berry, the Westgate Commons Summer Program, renter resource events, and community forums on the Luther Seminary Lower Campus. So far in 2026, we've also hosted National Night Out, Movies in the Park, and Yoga in the Park. Volunteers removed more than 100 bags of litter and debris in two spring cleanups, planted 12 trees at Westgate Commons Park, and put in new accessible raised beds at the SAP Community Garden, where three plots grow fresh produce for Seal Hi-Rise residents. We gave the City 11 recommendations on the new HealthPartners Como Clinic, sent formal comments to Metro Transit on H Line stations, and launched a free, eight-module Home Energy Course.
Volunteers on our Equity, Environment, Land Use, and Transportation committees lead much of this work, with a small staff keeping it connected.
It takes about $30,000 in programming funds every year to do all of this. Many grants can only be used for one specific project, and our City allocation doesn't fully cover staff and basic costs like rent, internet, and accounting. Your gift fills that gap. It also helps us rebuild our reserves toward about $10,000.
This year, our goal is $5,000, and a generous neighbor is helping us get there. Starting November 1, they'll match gifts dollar for dollar, up to $1,000. Once that match is used up, a $500 bonus match unlocks and runs through Give to the Max Day, November 19.
Give where it's needed most, or choose the Community Garden or Renter & Community Programs. Please give online here on GiveMN. GiveMN's prize drawings count only online GiveMN gifts, so giving online gives your gift an extra chance to grow.
Thank you for being part of it.
