For 6 years, I've been lucky enough to sit on the Mile in My Shoes (MiMS) board of directors. I've been even luckier to run several races alongside members of MiMS' running teams, which link volunteers with people experiencing homelessness, recovering from substance use, and reentering the community after incarceration.
Our teams run together 2-3 times a week, starting with one mile, then another, until soon they are running everything from 5Ks to full marathons. Along the way, long-lasting connections form among teammates whose paths might not normally cross. As our runners often say, every mile changes you.
This summer and fall, I trained with the MiMS Distance Crew team (many members pictured above) in preparation for the Twin Cities Marathon. Unfortunately, as many of you know, the race was cancelled due to heat.
One of Alumni Member Runners, Matt P., was seeking an alternative to the Twin Cities Marathon. He decided to up the ante and join me on October 29 in the Hixon 50K Trail Race! (50K = 31 HARD trail miles!)

When you donate to Mile in My Shoes, your gift directly supports our runners and our teams. Donations are matched / doubled, too.
For some - like Matt P. - running and the MiMS community are LIFE CHANGING. So, thanks in advance for your support!
