Alexandra House typically hosts its annual HopeFest event the last weekend of September, as our lead into October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The core principles of the event are to raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence, remember those we have lost, and honor the many survivors. After much deliberation, and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alexandra House Board of Directors and staff collectively decided to cancel the event. In place of HopeFest, Alexandra House has created several initiatives for Domestic Violence Awareness Month (learn more on our website).

This year, we are holding a Purple Challenge, which is a virtual fundraiser and public awareness campaign aimed at raising awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence in our community and the need for resources to help survivors. The Challenge begins Thursday, October 1st, and runs the entire month of October. All funds raised will provide life-changing crisis intervention, safe housing, and supportive services to help empower domestic violence survivors to build safer lives for themselves and their families.

Can we count on you to make a difference?

Your donation will:

✅ keep our helpline running 24/7

✅ create safety plans for a victim/survivor that they use during and after their stay at our emergency shelter

✅ give a survivor a chance to stay stably housed after leaving our shelter

✅ provide comforting support of knowledgeable advocates

✅ offer a survivor help with difficult legal issues

✅ put domestic and sexual violence safety resources in schools, workplaces, apartment buildings, clinics, worship places, and businesses

✅ and so much more...
