At Bethel we share our food and our spaces because these actions help us show God’s love to our neighborhood. We share our food and our spaces to help build trust and relationships with our neighbors and one another. We share our food and our spaces because we are blessed when we do so.

For example, a young neighbor boy joined us for community nights last March. One week when he brought his dad to supper, the boy was convinced that we were serving Walking Tacos. He adjusted quickly when he got here and discovered sloppy joes were the meal that night. But that same boy’s dad came to get Walking Tacos the next week, even though the little boy was at home sick. Sharing Walking Tacos never tasted so good.

Another example is sharing in pain and sorrow with a family that experienced a racialized assault in our neighborhood. In the midst of such a traumatic experience, this family has found a safe haven at Bethel. Our invitations are sincere, so they have participated in several Community Fun Nights, even as they come to grips with the harsh truth of racism enacted on them in their neighborhood. We are honored to walk with this family as we can.

For this year's Give to the Max Day, ask (at least) one friend, neighbor, and family member to Give to the Max with you! Will you share $25 with Bethel so we can continue to share food and space with our neighbors?
