16 Days to Go!

Update posted 3 years ago

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! To all who have donated.

Please know that I appreciate you all so very much.

I have 16 days left to meet my goal and I am hoping that you all can spread the word far and wide!

This fundraising is paramount to the success of our team and ultimately our goal of diversifying competitive cycling.

With Compassion,

Ashley

When I made the decision to move to Minneapolis from New York, during a global pandemic, with three kids under the age of eight (not recommended by the way), I knew that it would be no small feat. I also knew that it would be a decision that would change our lives for the better. Sure enough I immediately found my "people" and since co-founding Stamina Racing Collective I have found unbelievable support, mentorship, and community in my team and the cycling community. As an Afro-Caribbean/Black/Latinx woman it has truly been a dream come true to connect with individuals that have encouraged and motivated me to achieve my cycling aspirations and tirelessly work to amplify BIPOC voices.

The word stamina signifies a sustained physical and mental effort, which is needed in cycling and in social justice. Our team chose to include the words stamina and collective to signify the importance of our sustained work together toward one common objective: increased diversity in competitive cycling.

Approximately 15% of licensed racers in USA Cycling are those in women’s fields. Even fewer riders identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color (BIPOC), with estimates ranging from 8%-10% across all BIPOC groups. The goal of Stamina Racing Collective is to strengthen and diversify the pipeline of women, trans, and non-binary athletes in competitive cycling. Three of the major factors that decrease the participation of cyclists in women's fields include inequitable opportunities, a lack of support from others, and barriers to accessibility. Our team uses a three tiered approach to address these barriers. Our pillars include mentorship, accessibility, and community development.

We are fundraising for Minnesota's Give to the Max Day in order to support our start-up costs and the costs of our first full season of racing and community events.

Thank you in advance for your support!
