"Friends of the Greenway" 2023 Annual Fund

Our work for the Greenway is powered by tax-deductible donations from people who love the trail - and want to keep it the best urban bike trail in the nation.

As the nonprofit that had the idea for the Greenway and worked to get it built, we're proud it has become an essential transit corridor for our community and a national model.

We're working hard to keep it safe, clean, green, and full of public art.   And we're working to extend it over the river and through Saint Paul!

We're a 501c3 nonprofit organization that relies on donations to fund our work for the Greenway.  We receive no operational funding from the government.

Your support will help us:

- Work to Extend the Greenway over the River and through Saint Paul.

- Monitor the Park Board's work on the Midtown Greenway Master Plan.  Earlier this year Park Board Commissioners tried to kill the plan.  We stepped in and convinced them to change their minds and support the Plan.  Now the plan is back on track.  Once completed and approved, the Greenway can be an official Regional Trail.  This means the potential for more funding for the Greenway, as well as an elevated status to support our Extend the Greenway work.

- Ask the City to schedule repaving of the other sections of the Greenway.  Last year we convinced Minneapolis Public Works to re-do their botched trail repaving, which was terrible and resulted in a bumpy surface with unsafe gaps and cracks.  The new surface went in last year and it looks great!  Now we need to get the other sections scheduled.

- Coordinate our Midtown Bike + Walk Ambassadors, who bike and walk in the Lake Street-Greenway corridor to welcome visitors, support small businesses, and help keep the area safe.

- Add more public art to the Greenway and organize the Greenway Glow Arts Festival.

- Organize regular trail clean-ups, plant trees and gardens, and much more!
