At Northern Starz, our mission is to partner with our community and families to provide quality arts education. From playing the lead in a play, learning an instrument, taking a dance class, or participating in one of our many classes and workshops across the performing arts,  there's something for everyone at every age. Join us to learn, grow, and bring performing arts to our community!

Our Current Story

Northern Starz has had to take a few steps back due to the effects of covid-19. We were forced to close our building doors for March, April, May, and part of June. During this time, we had to cancel four ticketed shows, several classes, and our annual fundraiser, all adding up to what would have been 74% of our yearly income. The revenue from these events is what helps keep the cost of classes, performance fees, and tickets affordable in the communities we serve as well as pay our operating bills.

Since the beginning of the shut down, we've gotten creative with how to continue our work in a safe environment. In March, we began to host free virtual theatre classes. Over 135 of these have ran so far, and we're proud to say that we've committed to continuing to pay all our teaching artist leading these. In addition though, we've had to incur tech subscription fees and equipment costs.

We have a wonderful "backyard" that we were able to use for three outdoor shows. These began to help with the monetary deficit we are facing, but we are continuing to struggle. With updated mandates and the temperatures dropping, we've had to cancel shows yet again. Now we are turning to small workshops and individual lessons to help keep the education going and our bills and teaching artists paid.

Now what?

Northern Starz understands the importance of the performing arts in our community. Not only does it invite curiosity and imagination, it is a source of comfort and inspiration in the difficult times we are living. We are committed to continuing to bring performing arts education to our community no matter what covid-19 brings, but we won't be able to do it alone.

Please join us by making a contribution to help us provide the arts education our community deserves!
