In order to achieve our vision of safe homes and communities for everyone, we recently launched our first-ever Making Home Happen Campaign.  Donate today and your gift will be matched by an anonymous donor!

This Campaign will enable us to make home happen for more seniors, veterans, and low-income households, and to invest in the future of our community through several areas, including:

  • Respond to the Current Health Crisis – As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made several adjustments in order to ensure the safety and health of our clients, volunteers, staff, and paid contractors.  We do not anticipate being able to host volunteer teams at pre-pandemic levels until late 2021. The loss of this critical source of support will negatively impact our ability to assist our neighbors in need. To help offset this loss, we are seeking funding to hire contractors to provide the critical repairs needed for low-income homeowners to remain safely housed, preventing displacement and homelessness and ensuring they have a safe and healthy place to call home.
  • Program Expansion – We will increase our capacity to deliver services through our Safe at Home and Home Repair Programs throughout the seven-county metro area and southern Minnesota.
  • Construction Workforce Training Collaborative Fund – Our innovative public-private collaborative with Tree Trust, Association of Minority Contractors, and Housing First Minnesota will deliver entry-level construction training to underserved and minority youth.
  • Working Capital Fund – Over the last several years, we have successfully secured grants to provide more substantial and comprehensive repairs and accessibility modifications for low-income homeowners. However, this presents challenges related to cash flow because we have to complete the work and submit for reimbursement before we receive payment. Increased cash flow will allow us to utilize reimbursement funding in a more efficient and effective manner, so we can take on more projects.
  • Infrastructure Improvements – Funding will help cover the costs of new hardware, PC’s, laptops, and tablets, as well as vehicles and tool trailers. This will support streamlined program management, service delivery, data collection and analysis, communications and improved organizational efficiency.

Together, we can ensure that more of our neighbors in need have a safe, functional, and healthy place to call home, which is the basis for our quality of life.  A safe and stable home sets us up for success with our family and our jobs and allows our communities to thrive.  And, as the COVID-19 crisis showed us, being able to stay at home gives us the means to remain safe, impacting both our own health and well-being and also the health and well-being of the entire community.
