Child at Fire Station #1 in Minneapolis
Your support Doors Open Minneapolis and Duluth helps Rethos strengthen community bonds by inviting local residents and visitors to explore the diverse buildings that shape our cities' identity free of charge, making the event accessible to all. Through free access to public and private venues—from historic theaters and sacred spaces to civic buildings—it fosters a sense of shared ownership over our urban environments and the stories the urban envirnments tell. Visitors gain insider perspectives directly from building owners, caretakers, and guides who share stories of design, innovation, and heritage, helping bridge communities across neighborhoods and cultures.
Donor and sponsor support of Rethos's Doors Open programming reduces barriers to participation and promotes inclusive engagement. Whether touring the newly renovated City Hall, stepping inside the Federal Reserve Bank to learn about the journey of money, making zines at Open Book, or interacting with firefighters and exploring their equipment, participants connect not only with places but with people behind them—builders, artists, public servants, and neighbors alike. These shared experiences spark meaningful dialogue, celebrate local heritage, and strengthen civic pride across Minneapolis.
