Lara's Brighter Days 2026

“He is absolutely heartbroken, just so lost.”  That is what the message said.  Spot was left at a holding facility with his favorite toy and as his family walked away, confusion, worry and despair filled his face.  Spot is seven years old and he’s lived with the same family his whole life.  His best friend was the little autistic girl that he slept with every night.  His family has to move; the new place won’t let Spot come.  After seven years of love and loyalty, he’s lost everything.

The message said, “I sat with him for an hour, pet him and talked to him.  He put his face close to me.  I have never seen dog so heartbroken.  It absolutely killed me.”

The holding facility is a structure with two walls and chain link kennels on concrete. Spot has never experienced anything like this his whole life. What’s worse is this county doesn’t do adoptions. His only way out is to be rescued. Once all the kennels are full, the dogs are euthanized and they start to fill all over again. For seven years he was there for his family. Will you be there for him now?
