Central High School PAC 2020

Dear Family and Friends -

These are such strange times we are in. I don't even know how to ask anyone for anything else, and yet here I am, a fellow parent, asking you to support St. Paul Central High School for Give To The Max Day. Central is a special place for our family. It’s where my son Thomas is a 10th grader, where my 8th grade son Patrick will go next year, where my dad taught special education for 34 years and where I am now the PAC (Parent Advisory Council) Co-Chair. 

While distance learning has been a hassle for the Kase kids, they will be fine. I am asking on behalf of the students who have found Distance Learning to be way more than just a hassle. Central’s most vulnerable students have a high need for online resources that boost distance learning, tutoring and other academic support services. We plan to empower our teachers to continue to meet those needs. That’s where our focus of funding will be THIS YEAR: striving to make sure that the access to a quality and equitable public education doesn’t get any deeper or wider.

I am asking you to give from your heart. We do have a very special donor that has come forward to match gifts up to $10,000. She is a mother of a Central alum and a community leader. She has fought tirelessly for the rights of young people, particularly young people of color. In this year, the year in which George Floyd, yet another black man who was murdered, Valerie Castile will make a gift of $10,000 to the Central High School PAC. She is also a proud Central parent and knows the value of a gift to Central. “These are the kids Philando grew up with. They need some help. We are gonna help.” I figure if she can dig deep and keep helping I can.
