Central High School in St Paul, MN has a reputation for excellence based on decades of achievement. But while Central has a rich history, it is not rich with resources. That’s why the Central High School Parent Advisory Council (PAC) reaches out to every Central High School family for financial support. Our dollars:
• help close the school’s achievement gap
• provide classroom equipment, supplies and support
• improve the academic experience for students, families, and staff
In 2018-19, PAC funded over 50 requests from teachers and staff. PAC has paid for things like the 9th grade retreat, student planners, bus tokens for students who stay after school for tutoring, performances from outside artists, and many essential classroom materials such as: foreign language material subscriptions, art supplies, calculators, and science equipment. PAC also pays for meals and treats for Central teachers and staff during conferences throughout the school year.
We were also able to sponsor the Central Speaker Series to celebrate the diversity of the Central High School community. This included visits to Central by authors Shannon Gibney and Melvin Carter, Jr.
Our goal this year is to raise $45,000, as more and more teachers have come to rely on this funding source for important classroom needs.
