At KIPP MN, our mission incites us to guide and spur on students as they pursue the paths they choose, "so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world." As a community, we embolden learning as the way for students to choose fulfilling lives, be it through literacy, music, art or STEM. We know the windows to the world are through the exposure of quality learning. Our ask today is that you give to the MAX, so that we may offer the world to our students through culturally relevant and affirming curriculum.

ABOUT KIPP MN

KIPP Minnesota Public Schools launched in 2008 and is a K-8 charter school which provides free education to 300 students at its North Minneapolis campus KIPP North Star. With a team of over 60 educators, leaders, support staff, and administrators that is over 80% BIPOC, our team reflects and understands the culture and needs of our student body and community. Our school also has a dedicated Special Education team who provide services for 60 students.

As part of the national KIPP Foundation, which is the largest network of charter schools in the country, KIPP Minnesota is connected to a strong network of 275 public schools across the nation, as well as receives support and training.

OUR INITIATIVES

Instructional Coaching: Culturally responsive teaching is essential for teacher/student relationships that foster learning. Our goal is for teachers to grow in knowledge, relationship, and educational quality with internal supports that foster professional development.

Literacy Revolution: Across our campuses we are taking steps to address literacy barriers early in students’ lives. This includes:

  •  Implementing specific curriculum and reading instruction
  • Dyslexia coaching for staff to be able to identify and support students with dyslexia
  • Conducting dyslexia screening for all incoming Kindergartners though Grade 2 students

STEM Learning: To provide students with excellent education, KIPP MN desires to spark students’ interest in STEM from a young age. This programming makes science relevant, accessible, interesting, and challenging to students while equipping them to use critical thinking skills and teamwork to solve contextualized problems and gain confidence in their STEM abilities.

Student-Centered Support: KIPP MN is committed to designing student-centered supports that focus on social and emotional regulation, healing, and sustained emotional balance. In collaboration with our community-based partners we are forging a path where students can receive wrap-around supports.

OUR MISSION

Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose—college, career, and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.
