Heather Baldwin and Blake Wanger are Minneapolis-based improvisers who first met at HUGE Theater in 2013, became good friends, and formed  the duo Subatomic Duck in 2018.  The name comes from a Facebook meme of a corny physics joke ("What does a subatomic duck say?" "Quark!") that Blake sent to Heather in honor of her educational background in Physics.

Our form consists of a series of scenes connected by zooming in on an object or image in the scene and zooming out to reveal a new location and characters.

Improvathon 2020 will be broadcast live on HUGE Theater's YouTube channel from Wednesday 11/18/20 at 8pm CT through Thursday 11/19/20 at 11:59pm CT. Subatomic Duck's set will start at 8:30am CT on Thursday the 19th. Watch the live stream here: www.youtube.com/c/HUGEtheater/

HUGE Theater is extremely important to both of us. The community has helped us grow so much, both personally and professionally. It is not merely a theater; the people involved with HUGE in some capacity (staff, performers, volunteers, students, and audience members) are like a family. The joy that HUGE has brought to our lives and the lives of so many others is immeasurable, and Minneapolis is a much better city because of HUGE's existence.

HUGE has been closed since mid-March due to the pandemic.  Because of this, they have not been able to generate income from in-person class tuition, ticket sales, and concessions sales since then.  Therefore, it's been more of a challenge than past years to be able to pay rent on the building.  It would be a devastating blow to the community if HUGE were to close its doors permanently for financial reasons, so we are trying to do everything we can to prevent that from happening.  We need HUGE to still be here once this crisis passes, and every little bit helps!
