I'm currently serving as the Vice President of the Avenues for Youth (Avenues) board of directors and having experienced home insecurity, I know the importance of housing to health, safety and positive lived experiences. Wilder researchers noted that "An estimated 13,300 Minnesota youth on their own experience homelessness over the course of a year." and on "October 25, 2018, 1,484 youth on their own were counted as part of the Minnesota Homeless Study. Youth on their own make up 15% of the total homeless population counted." We are talking about homelessness in a place know for harsh winters.
Avenues provides resources for youth and a bridge during a time of emergency housing need. For more than 25 years, Avenues has supported youth ages 16-24, operating two shelter and transitional living programs that support youth of all gender identities in Hennepin County Minnesota, with locations in North Minneapolis and Brooklyn Park.
Our youth need your financial support, thanks for considering donating today.
Graciously
