Let's show HUGE some of the love it's shown us!

Known by many names over the years, the Amplifying Voices class series at HUGE Theater is a space for trans and cis women, nonbinary, and trans masc folks to learn improv in an affirming environment that centers self-love and joy. If you have found this class transformative for you or someone you love, please consider donating to HUGE Theater.

What's the money for? HUGE Improv Theater is moving to 2728 Lyndale Avenue South in Minneapolis this fall. All funds raised will support construction renovation costs to build the new theater and classroom spaces. While the majority of funding will come from bank loans and foundation grants, a successful community fundraiser is a key part of securing those other types of funds. The new building will be fully wheelchair accessible with a larger theater and more classrooms.

If you are a current student or alum — what have the Amplifying Voices classes meant to you? Please share your stories in the comments! (Or you can DM Lacey in the HUGE Community Slack.)  We might highlight some of your comments in this story section of the page.

Stories from Amplifying Voices Students

"HUGE 'walks-the-walk' in its commitment to increasing diversity in the improv world: when my class of mostly trans, mostly queer folks wanted to continue with more advanced classes and none were on the schedule (due to space constraints), HUGE paid to rent out space nearby so we could continue learning together." — Lacey

"HUGE has been my home-away-from-home for the last few years. I've taken classes, participated in jams, and laughed till I cried watching a ton of shows. I love the dynamic energy and playfulness shared among people of all ages. Improv theater has been an incredibly healing practice for me... The friendships I've forged at HUGE extend far beyond the theater walls to dinners, dances, and camping trips." — Valerie

"The Amplifying Voices track at HUGE is what finally got me to take the plunge into improv. Having a safe space was very important to me, and I found so much more than expected. All of the instructors and students are such amazing humans and it has formed a sense of community for me. It is a place where I am able to openly learn, share, be silly, and make mistakes, knowing there will always be support.— Em

"It was just so amazing from day one and I could not recommend their Theater enough. It has helped me find words again, pushes me to lean into my inner weirdo and try things even when I think I'll fail. Which I do. We all do. But having the support of a community of motivating, inspiring and caring people really makes a difference." — Marissa
