To emerge stronger than ever from these challenging times - we seek your support!

$5,000 goal

FOR 96 YEARS, COOK COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY HAS BEEN COLLECTING, PRESERVING,  AND SHARING OUR MATERIAL, CULTURAL, AND ARTISTIC HERITAGE.

Due to the pandemic and two recent floods of our collections area we are facing challenging times. To emerge from these current challenges stronger than ever we need your support.

Your generous and tax-deductible donation will enable us to:

  • Continue engaging our communities by sharing the stories of Cook County
  • Prepare our sites for safe public interaction
  • Expand the care and processing of our collections until a new archival facility is completed

We thank you for your support - your gift will be applied to the areas of greatest need in order to help sustain us through these challenging times!

Our recent rebranding as Historic Cook County represents our collection of five historic sites that we currently maintain: the Cook County History Museum (the 1896 Lightkeeper's House); the Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery; St. Francis Xavier Church of Chippewa City; Bally Blacksmith Shop; and a replica 1930s fish house with the 35’ fishing tug, Neegee. Both the History Museum and Bally Blacksmith Shop are on the National Register of Historic Places.
