Northland Counseling Center is proud of its' growth in Children's Services over the past 3 years. It all started with a small hobby farm, providing outpatient therapeutic services to children with mental illness. Today, we are proud of our 16-bed residential home for children experiencing a crisis AND excited to announce our more recently developed Children's Crisis Services team (called INK). This team allows our staff to follow children from the Shelter and back into their home for a short period of time to assist will follow-up and skill retention.
Your donation will assist in acquiring important aspects of the farm including:
-Farm animals (chickens, goats, horses, etc...)
-Necessary farm equipment (lawn tractor, shovels, rakes, etc...)
-Veterinary care for the animals
-Gardening needs each Spring
-Barn maintenance and upkeep
-Programming needs including art supplies and therapeutic play materials
Children heal and grow when the environment in which they are learning provides a sense of safety, trust, unconditional regard, mental stimulation, creativity, and expression of self. The use of animals in the therapeutic process aims to accomplish this most effectively. Your donation will assist our efforts to provide a unique and innovative means to the treatment of mental health struggles facing our children today.
