My journey with Safe Hands began in February of 2017.  I had adopted from Safe Hands and was looking for a volunteer opportunity since I had finished grad school.  I have spent many hours in a variety of ways volunteering with the rescue.  I have made friends and helped save dogs along the way.  It’s one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I have no plans of stopping any time soon!  The above picture is of the dogs I fostered in 2020, because what else is there to do during a global pandemic? They all have loving homes and are thriving.

This brings us to 2021...For the second year in a row, our Fur Ball Gala is going virtual! Homeless animals need your support now more than ever. COVID-19 has already hurt so many companion animals across the country and more and more pets are being forced into homelessness.

This year we have a goal of raising $100,000 for The Safe House, our recently purchased Kentucky property.  Specifically, we need to turn the existing barn into an animal holding ward where dogs can receive proper care and reside in a safe, clean, temperature-controlled environment until they make the journey up north.

With your help, this finished animal holding ward will increase the number of animals we can save, alleviate overcrowding at our partner shelters, and allow Safe Hands to give critical, life-saving medical care to animals that need it most.
